The Pelton Turbine is an efficient water-powered machine that converts kinetic energy from high pressure, low volume water jets into mechanical work. Invented by American engineer Lester Allan Pelton in 1879, it is widely used in hydroelectric power plants for generating electricity. With no moving parts submerged underwater, the Pelton wheel offers advantages over other turbines such as the Francis and Kaplan types.
