Tumidocarinus giganteus is an imposing crab fossil that originated during the Middle Miocene era. This epoch is known as the Lillburnian age. Found in Glenafric Beach, located near Glenafric Station within North Canterbury on South Island in New Zealand. This significant discovery is attributed to its formation of the Dovedale Siltstone layer, where 24,700 distinct facial characteristics and 12,300 individual vertices were mapped.
