Tullich Church boasts an intricate and captivating history that has spanned centuries, serving as a central hub for a thriving community. Once a vital site, the church now lies in ruins on the grounds of an earlier Medieval chapel. Constructed with humble beginnings, the early church would have featured an earth floor and a roof thatched or turfed to protect its inhabitants from the elements. The current church building dates back to around 1400 but underwent significant renovations after the Reformation in 1560. This venerable structure stood the test of time until 1798, when it was eventually replaced by a newer church in Ballater. A circular wall surrounds the church and graveyard, characteristic of this era, with locals speculating that its design may have been intended to thwart the Devil's potential hiding spots. Tullich Church is now classified as a Scheduled Monument under Aberdeenshire Council's care, having undergone vital repairs and stabilization from 2018 to 2019.
