Tullich 7, Carved Cross Slab
sketchfab
Tullich 7 is a significant one of twenty-seven carved stones discovered at the Tullich Church site in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. A Latin cross outline dominates the surface of this large granite monolith, its lower and lateral arms remarkably incomplete. Measuring an impressive 1.72m by 0.43m by 0.24m, the stone's massive rectangular shape commands attention. The intricate carving is surprisingly light and subtle, making it a challenge to discern. According to historical records, Tullich 7 was unearthed in 1878 within the inner sanctum of the south wall of the church, precisely nine feet above ground level and two feet from the top of the wall (Michie 1910, pp120-1). The scanning and modeling of Tullich 7 were commissioned by the Aberdeenshire Council Archaeology Service and executed by Spectrum Heritage experts.
