Tullich 4 stands out as one of the 27 intricately carved stones unearthed at the historic Tullich Church site in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. This exceptional stone features an expertly incised outline Latin cross with distinctive hollow angles (semi-circular outlines accentuating the "armpits" of the cross). The open arms of the cross terminate without a line, showcasing the skillful craftsmanship of its creators. Dating back to the Pictish - Early Medieval era (7th – 10th Centuries AD), this stunning piece is crafted from pale pink granite, measuring 540 x 320 x 90-180mm in size. Its exact findspot remains unknown, but it's believed to have been discovered sometime between 1922 and 1968, likely during excavations around the church. For more information on Tullich 4 and the site, visit the Aberdeenshire Historic Environment Record (HER) website. Scanning and modeling were commissioned by the Aberdeenshire Council Archaeology Service, with execution carried out by Spectrum Heritage.
