Tulips

Celebrate Spring with some polyhedral tulips! These are made from a modified rhombicuboctahedron for the tulip bulb, elongated polyhedron slices for leaves, and a long hexagonal prism for the stem. Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 5 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: Normal Infill: Normal Notes: I printed this on a LulzBot Taz 5 using PLA and HIPS of various colors. The leaves and stem print flat on the build plate. The orientation of the bulb depends on the particular characteristics of your printer. I had success using a raft attached to the small square base of the bulb. Note that the bulb bottom has a hexagonal hole (to fit the stem) so there might not be enough surface area for good adhesion to the plate for the entire build. You might also try flipping the bulb upside down, but again note that the top surface is concave so you might not have enough surface adhesion without a brim or raft. Dimensions: Stem: 200 mm on long axis Leaf: 120 mm on long axis Bulb: 42.17 mm in x and y; 41.68 mm in z, when oriented upright Post-Printing I join the parts with Tenax 7-R. Hot glue helps as a filler if there is too much room between the stem and bulb.
