Tug boat Samson
thingiverse
This is a small project of mine that has been years in the making. As a child, I was absolutely fascinated by this particular model of tug boat. Unfortunately, it was well out of my price range at the time, and I ended up spending my money on Legos and candy instead. However, recently I managed to track down an unfinished model of the same tug, which came with all the necessary drawings. It's been sitting on my workbench for a while now, waiting for me to get started. As it happens, I'm currently in the process of ordering parts for a new 3D printer, so I haven't yet had a chance to print out the hull. The Fusion360 file is available for anyone who wants to take a crack at adjusting or improving the design themselves. This particular model is not the same one that Artesania sells today - this is an older version from back in the day. As it stands now, the project is still a work in progress and will likely undergo some changes before it's complete. Update: April 27th: I've managed to add a few new pieces to the model. April 27th: My first attempt at printing out the wheelhouse didn't quite go as planned. I ended up splitting it into smaller parts and tweaking the Fusion drawing accordingly. May 15th: I was able to print out the deckhouse in three separate sections, but my next update is likely to be delayed due to some issues with my new 3D printer. July 2nd: Unfortunately, I've been experiencing some major problems with my new large-format printer and haven't yet had a chance to print out the hull. I'm hoping to get things sorted out by winter so I can finally finish this project.
