Tudor Floor cutaway
sketchfab
A section of a scan of the Tudor Floor comes to light beneath the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, as Jane Sidell, Inspector of Ancient Monuments at Historic England, provides audio commentary. A scan showing the context of the discovery can be found here: http://bit.ly/2zvvs3M. The find is uncovered in summer 2017 during careful preparation of the floor for a new visitor centre beneath the Painted Hall. The area uncovered includes a glazed tile floor and a subterranean room containing a series of unusual niches, which archaeologists believe may be 'bee boles' for keeping skeps (hive baskets) during winter months when bee colonies are hibernating. Find out more about Tudor remains. Scanned 17 November 2017 by Thomas Flynn / Sketchfab for www.ornc.org. Old Royal Naval College at www.ornc.org.
