Tube Threader
thingiverse
I just created an easy method to thread Teflon (PTFE) tubing. Take a M4 bolt with a diameter of approximately 0.7 and turn its end so that it fits perfectly inside the tube. Place your die on the bolt, positioning it backwards so that the taper faces outwards. Secure the bolt in a vise and push the tube onto it while holding it firmly to prevent crushing. Now carefully turn off the tap from the bolt onto the tube by applying gentle pressure while frequently backing off. I will also be adding my extrude design, Cog hobber and additional features to the tabloid soon. To use the hobbing tool effectively, mount it as if it were a regular tool post on your lathe. Position the cog on a shaft, followed by inserting a coarse tap into the lathe chuck. For imperial coarse threads of similar diameter, a good starting point is 1/2 - 13 or 3/6 ~ 16. Typically, Imperial coarse taps are larger than metric ones of comparable size.
