Tube storage/thaw/ice box from a pipette box
thingiverse
I upcycle discarded pipette tip boxes into functional tube storage racks using this innovative item. By simply removing the tip tray and inserting this sheet, I can achieve three valuable results: Store tubes securely within the box. Pack the box with shaved ice and utilize it to store qPCR reagents and reactions during my work process. As someone who frequently misplaces primer tubes in the ice, this solution has been a game-changer for me. To rapidly thaw tubes, I fill the box with cold water. By the time I've completed my calculations, my reagents are ready for use. This item includes: A sheet for mixed tubes (as depicted in the photo above), capable of storing 8×1.5 mL, 18×0.5 mL, and 24 PCR tubes. A sheet for 1.5 mL tubes, allowing for storage of 24 (4×6) tubes. A sheet for 0.5 mL tubes, accommodating storage of 40 (8×5) tubes. A sheet for PCR (0.2 mL) tubes, compatible with both strips and individual tubes, storing 96 (8×12) tubes. An OpenSCAD script, which is not a Customizer due to its slow rendering speed but is commented for easy modification. Print Settings Notes: This object is designed as a thin sheet, approximately 0.60 mm thick by intention. It does not require any thickness beyond that since it primarily serves to maintain tube organization.
