Tube deflator

Tube deflator

thingiverse

This is a multi-functional schrader valve cap and rapid deflator. It works as a standard inner tube cap, then unscrews and spins to deflate the tube. Originally designed for use with a free diving float tube, it eliminates the hassle of sitting with a screwdriver after a dive. This solution is safer than unscrewing the valve itself. Printed in ABS, but PLA also works well. When attaching the cap to the tube, be careful not to cross-thread. When secure, it feels right. Printing with a raft yields best results. Without a raft, the bulging first layer makes it difficult to get the threads correct on the tube. The OpenSCAD file is included for modification and use. Thanks to Dan Kirshner's thread library for making this design possible: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1938150 July 20 Update: A solid area has been added between the two caps for extra support.
