Tube Cap Top (Cardboard Tube from Paper Roll)

Turn Your Cardboard Tubes into Containers! I've got a stash of tiny parts from my 3D printer, and my mischievous kitty loves to play with little plastic pieces, so I needed a simple and affordable container - I had plenty of empty toilet rolls and paper towel rolls, but couldn't find a cap that fit perfectly and was easy to pull off. So I created this solution. There are two types: Tall for a 10mm tall tube cap, which provides more grip but can be a bit harder to regularly remove, and Short (6.75mm) with less grip, making it easier to take out. There's also a little pull bar to make removal easier. I modeled it after post office tubes with only a small lip for pulling, but wanted something that could give more pulling power so the tighter fit would be more secure. My hobby printer handles the bridge just fine without any supports, and the files are all oriented for best printing. If you encounter trouble with the bridge, let me know, and I can come up with a support or edit for you. *UPDATE*: Some paper tubes have slightly different sizes, so I've been asked to create smaller/larger ones. You can see the files starting with L for Larger (about 1mm larger) and S for Smaller (1mm smaller). The ones that fit most rolls are left unsized. *UPDATE*: I've added a wide brim version of the regular size, which makes the cap flush with the outside edge of the rolls. It's just for aesthetics. *UPDATE*: I've added a bottom cap/plug without a pull tab. It's simple, but the short one can still be pulled out, and the tall one is pretty snug - I wouldn't recommend it for easy removal. SIZES: **Diameter is approximately as they are very malleable** L = Large to fit approximately 42mm - 43mm diameter (unlabeled) = Regular to fit approximately 41mm - 42mm S = Small to fit approximately 40mm - 41mm XS = Extra Small - to fit 39mm - 40mm (this fits an Australian Quilton tp roll) XS Short takes about 15 minutes and 4g of 1.75 PLA Large Tall takes about 30 minutes and 6g of 1.75 PLA
