TT Scale (1:120) Signals for 3mm LED
thingiverse
My brother's kids enjoy playing on their TT scale model train table, but the layout lacks a crucial element: signals. I began searching for affordable signal options, only to find that most models come with outdated bulb-style lighting. Not only are these expensive, but they're also difficult to repair. I decided to take matters into my own hands and create my own custom signal design. While it may not be entirely realistic, it's a simple and visually appealing solution. For this project, I chose to use 3mm LEDs, which are easier to work with than the smaller SMD types. You can select any 3mm LED that suits your taste - I opted for flat ones, as they add a more streamlined look to my design. To connect the LEDs, I used 0.5mm wires and 2mm heat shrink tubing to secure them to the bottom of the table. The base of the signal is painted white, giving it a clean appearance that blends seamlessly with the rest of the train table. The other components are printed using black PLA, adding a touch of sophistication to the design. If you have any questions or would like more information on this project, feel free to ask!
