The Konstantin E. Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics, located in Kaluga, is the first museum globally focusing on space exploration's history. Named after rocket science pioneer and school master Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, it opened on 3rd October 1967. Sergei Korolyov, RKK Energiya's chief designer, was instrumental in creating the museum. The building design credits go to Boris Barkhin, Evgeny Kireev, Nataliya Orlova, Valentin Strogy, and Kirill Fomin, while Yuri Gagarin laid the cornerstone on 13th June 1961. This well-visited museum employs 127 staff members, with 43 serving as curators.
