TS80p Soldering Iron Case and Soldering Station

prusaprinters

A case and and soldering station for the Miniware TS80p soldering iron. The case snugly fits the soldering iron handle along with three tips. The soldering station accommodates a spool of solder, brass wool tip cleaner, USB-C power cord and a "Tin Man" iron rest in a portable, compact form factor. Please see MakeWerks for additional details.Print instructionsPrinter - i3 MK3S.Settings - Captured in the 3MF files (PrusaSlicer, all with 0.2mm layer height and no supports). Note that my general approach is to use extra perimeters, no/little infill, and no top and bottom layers unless functionally necessary.Filament - Sunlu PETG and old AmazonBasics TPU that I had on hand.NotesHad some trouble with the overhang of the brass tip cleaner housing opening (near the the top, on the right side when facing the opening). I tried many slicer setting adjustments, various print bed orientations and a few different geometries. The uploaded version has never failed to print, but inconsistently, I can still get a poor quality finish along that troublesome edge. I'm interested to hear details if you get to the bottom of it!Assembling the TPU holder into its opening on the base takes a bit of work. Could loosen up the tolerances, but I wanted to keep it tight so that the holder stays in place when removing the iron or tips. I started with one side along two of the lobes and worked my way around, using a set of small needle nose pliers and being careful to not poke the PETG with with the tips.Note on Soldering Iron Temperatures - The temperature of the TS80p soldering tip at the finger guard area should remain under the PETG glass transition temperature (the finger guard area is the part of the tip which contacts the tin man iron rest). I've included a couple of pictures showing this (the pictures also show some a discrepancy between the set and measured temperatures - not sure if it's because of my iron's lack of calibration or the quick and dirty measurements technique).
