Truss Structure Library
thingiverse
This is a versatile truss structure OpenSCAD library that can be used to render structures well-known from construction tower cranes and other heavy machinery. When printed, these are extremely stiff and strong considering their light weight. There are two basic structures: a box truss with pyramidal struts reinforcing each box section (the number of sections is parametric), and a triangular truss, designed to be used as a horizontal component. Optional modules offer bolting points to attach multiple box trusses together to overcome print volume limitations. The triangular truss allows creating a structure which is stronger at one end, weaker at the other end, with scaled dimensions and thicknesses in between. Examples of STL files are included for the basic building blocks. The .scad source file in the zip file documents the various parameters for the primary modules.
