The 3D model is built on top of a structure of trusses. A truss, also known as an engine-truss, forms by the combination of many elements made up from smaller individual trusses. These basic units, which often consist only of triangular pieces of material tied together in triangles, combine with one another through multiple different connections such as metal rods or rivets that attach two parts to one other in three distinct planes so it can form a more complex piece like a bridge for example or a roof on top of an aircraft hangar. The basic truss itself then comes with lots of its own sub-complexities too including tension components.
