OpenSCAD code to generate arbitrary gears with a truncated octahedron profile that is mapped to a sphere. The following parameters can be changed:gear_teeth_count: Number of teeth per geargear_radius: Radius of gear at mid pointgear_pitch: Distance between gear teethstart_angle: midpoint angle of the gear (recommended 0 - 80) clipTop: trim off additional bits extending above and below highTop: add additional height for gearing near the topnum_cycles: number of gear levels (works best with odd numbers)height_multiplier: modifier to change gear tooth depth / heightmake_flat: make teeth with a flat contact profile instead of a spherical contactaxle_type: type of central axle ("cross", “hole”, “keyway”, “none”)axle_diameter: diameter of central axlexw: line extrusion widthextra_base_height: add additional distance to the base (needed for angles near 90)ring_gear: create internal / inverse gearing
