Truncated Icosahedron Puzzle
thingiverse
I'd love to tackle this puzzle challenge. It looks incredibly tricky to assemble! I bet even you couldn't figure it out! This design builds on an existing model, a truncated icosahedron puzzle from https://www.myminifactory.com/object/truncated-icosahedron-puzzle-13118, which has some improvements like adjusted rubber band locking gaps and external faces at 40 degrees for better part alignment. Update: A larger version of the design is available, scaled up by 150% and featured in photos of the original smaller version. For assembly, you'll need to print 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons and use a total of 30 rubber bands. I experimented with using a balloon as a mold for all 32 parts, but that proved difficult. Kudos for even attempting it! That said, there's a helpful video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D8sBJR1OHQ. It does provide insight into the process, and the larger puzzle seems easier to assemble compared to this design.
