The truck under-run's specifications include a 10mm sheet material, with the lower shape being CNC plasma cut and bent on a press brake. The uprights are 30mm wide and welded to the lower structure, resulting in a weight of 150lbs. The material used is AISI 4340 annealed (closest SIM SCALE substitute found). The under-run's load capacities are as follows: Load Case 1 has a safety factor of 3.35 with a maximum von Mises stress of 160 MPa and a maximum displacement of 2.66 mm; Load Case 2 has a safety factor of 1.75, a maximum von Mises stress of 246 MPa, and a maximum displacement of 1.281mm; Load Case 3 exhibits a safety factor of 2.22, a maximum von Mises stress of 170 MPa, and a maximum displacement of 1.79 mm.
