I've occupied my downtime during this lockdown by restoring a couple of retro CAD stations using 20-year-old technology. I first encountered Solid Edge V12 on a P3 machine running Win98 and approximately 256 MB of RAM. Now, with a NEC laptop boasting a 1.73 GHz Celeron M processor and 4 GB of RAM, along with 32-bit Windows XP, this vintage software performs seamlessly. After some hands-on experience with the old program and re-acquainting myself with its quirks, I've discovered that this retro software is just as productive as its modern counterparts, despite less polished graphics being the main difference.
