It seems like whenever you yank your speaker off the desk, or drop your phone with the earplugs still in place, or tinker with your audio headset by accident, the jack always takes the brunt of the damage. Typically, when the audio jack breaks, people are forced to purchase an entire new device. They simply don't have the time and/or skills to install a new one, which requires soldering and studying complex schematics. This is a fully 3D-printable TRS audio jack with a distinctive design to maximize ease of use. It replaces all standard 3.5mm audio jacks. To utilize it, simply detach your old jack from the wire. Uncover the end to separate the wire into three distinct wires: Ground (black, silver, gold, or copper), Left Audio (blue), and Right Audio (red). If there are two ground wires, twist them together. Use sandpaper to remove the insulation off the ends of the three wires. Next, loosen the screws on the 3D-printed jack. Insert the ground wire into the hole labeled G, left audio into the hole labeled L, and right audio into the hole labeled R. Tighten the screws to secure the wires in place and you're done! No soldering is necessary! ( If required, cover any exposed wire with insulation tape and apply hot glue for an even more secure connection). If your jack ever gets yanked out again, simply reinsert the wires and tighten the screws. You never need to replace the whole device again! Printing this model demands a 3D printer capable of printing with two different materials including conductive filament.*This is a prototype, but I aim to test and refine the design if given the opportunity to utilize a 3D printer capable of working with two materials.*Soldering is optional but can be done if desired.*Every part file is included, allowing the entire assembly to be printed as one piece except for the two screws.
