Trossingen Lyre
thingiverse
Inspired from D&D, I wanted to make a working lyre. Using Nylon strings: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OR4W3K 40mm Tuning Pins: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0875ZKFH9 Tuning Hammer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Q0C3RU Along with wood PLA, super glue, Original Gorilla glue, popsicle sticks, and some twine The main frame segments have slots on both sides for half a popsicle stick, using Gorilla glue to coat the stick and clamp the segments together. Then using super glue for finer and thinner areas. The small hour glass pieces are the ribs that can be put in place with a hammer and gluing them as well. After that the top panel can be glued also. The tail piece is tied with twine and hooked on the bottom of the lyre. The bridge should NOT be glued, the strings of the instrument will hold it in place. Screw in the tuning pins part way, tie a knot on one end of the string and run it through the tail piece. Then run all the strings through their tuning pins and tie the other end in a knot. Depending on the density of the print, tuning may bend the instrument inward, But will still play.
