Troopers Ear saver
prusaprinters

This is a colored, by layer, Stormtrooper themed ear saver. They are a remix of two sources from Thingverse and some original work. It is set up to use a common configuration with my other ear savers using the Multi-Material 2S but could be printed by swapping filaments at the layer changes on a single color printer. It will work with either of my color loads as white (4) and black (5) are in both color load patterns. It's configured to print two copies on the top half of the print bed leaving space for other prints on the bottom half or you can add more instances at the same time.

I added a triple colored version that's slightly thicker to get a better white over blue.

Print instructions

I shrunk the original plaque to 36% X & Y and 1.8 mm Z so it lost a lot of detail when printing. I turned on fine line detection to get some of it back but you could always swap nozzles to a 0.25 mm instead of the standard 0.4 mm and get even more detail.

I tried many color combinations but the basic black and white looked the best. If you want, the edge of the shield is raised up enough that you could do another color change for the border.

I used some concepts from the Thingverse design:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4445955
The shield was merged within the slicer from
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3641983
with the strap from
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4251451

The second copy in slicer is a modifier used to add one extra solid layer below the shield so the white is more opaque.

I implemented this file with the new (Version 2.1) Height range Modifier in Prusa Slicer.
