Troop Portable Mantlet of Wicker

Troop Portable Mantlet of Wicker

I wanted to shake things up in my siege encounter a bit, so I dug into historical records to see how medieval troops defended against arrows. One thing that caught my eye was this troop mantlet used to deflect arrows. Wicker proved to be a popular choice for siege defenses because it's light, effective, and easy to build. Adding wheels gave the troops even more mobility, allowing them to move forward at a steady pace while getting some protection from falling arrows. If you build it right and print it correctly, the mantlet should roll smoothly on its wheels. Just sand the shaft that runs through the wicker structure until everything moves freely. This does require some assembly work. I've got two parts for each wheel to give them a structural support look from sheet metal on both sides of the wheels. You'll need to glue those halves together, then push the shaft through the structure and press the wheels onto it.
