Tronxy x5sa Tensioner, Wheel Alignment and ADLX345 Mount
thingiverse
This plate serves three purposes. 1. Provide a belt tensioner 2. Provide support for the three wheels on both sides 3. Provide a mount point for an ADXL345 accelerometer. My carriage never ran true because the bottom adjustable wheel was supported on only one side. Binding the three wheels together provides a lot more support, and the carriage runs true now. To install, you will need to remove the provided metal plate. You will need an additional eccentric nut for the bottom wheel. I also added bearing shims on both sides of all three wheels, but this is not required. The tronxy eccentric nut is a different size than the commonly available "openbuilds" eccentric nuts, so if you go with "openbuilds" eccentric nuts, you will need to get two of them, and also 4 spacers to match for the other two wheels. Assembling the carriage is challenging, three hands is helpful, and you will most likely need to remove the gantry extrusion to slide it into the carriage after assembly. The tensioner currently only aligns properly if you have gt2 idlers. I may add one that will work with the stock idlers. Make sure to print the slide plate and two belt grippers. Two long M3 screws and nuts are required to hold the belt grippers in place. If you sand the mating surfaces, sand the belt contact surface, and the belt tensions are unequal, the slide plate is free to move and will move off center as you manually move the carriage around. Adjust the long screws as needed to equalize the tension. Once you have the belt tension equalized, you can insert screws into the holes provided to bind the slide plate to the larger assembly. The mount for the ADXL345 unit will only fit the 8 pin module, NOT the 9 pin module. The picture of the two cubes shows the before (gray) and after (black) using the klipper resonance compensation. Because of the orientation of the module, you will need to swap the Y and Z axes in the configuration. See the handy silkscreened X, Y and Z diagram on the module. The belt grippers are remixed from another design that I can't find at the moment. FreeCAD design file provided.
