Tronxy x5s Electronics and Power Supply Case
thingiverse
I have been eager to bring all electronics and power supply inside printer boundaries, and this rough draft outlines what I believe is the best approach for the x5s. Work Log: Initial Post: Case only, missing cutouts and holes Update 1 (3/18/18): Added initial grills that will be used temporarily. If willing to do some manual work, case is now complete. Background I assume most users will either stick with stock power supply or upgrade to a 24v power supply. I wanted to upgrade but also didn't want a mess of supplies and cabling, so this solution was created. This will cost around $50 to go from 12v to 24v, otherwise just the case with stock parts will be the cost of filament plus fasteners. I initially referenced a well-designed case, but its position wouldn't work due to z-axis cable chain and it was designed for a complete frame rather than 2040 uprights used by x5s. I tried modifying the fusion file but encountered big delays, so I created my own from scratch. Primary Features: * Cleaner cabling * Power supply and control board moved inside frame * Only requires replacing lcd cables to reach * Solution supported for fully enclosed 24v setup * Doesn't block z-axis Supplies: * [24v/20a](https://www.ebay.com/itm/ABI-24V-500W-Power-Supply-Indoor-Outdoor-LED-Driver-Rainproof-Weatherproof-21A/361654486320?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649) or stock 12v Power Supply * [24v to 12v DC Power Converter](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H8311D6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (required if using 24v power supply) * [Mosfet Board](https://www.amazon.com/BIQU-Power-Module-Expansion-Printer/dp/B01HEQVQAK/ref=sr_1_2?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1520618023&sr=1-2&keywords=mosfet+board) (required if using 24v power supply) * At least 7 M# 10mm Machine Screws and [drop in nuts](https://www.amazon.com/TOPINSTOCK-Assembly-T-nut-Aluminum-Extrusion/dp/B01FOC6ADE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1520617992&sr=8-3&keywords=m4+2020+nut) * [2x 100cm+ 10 Pin Ribbon Cables](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071W994D3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for LCD Display Status: Done: Design the grills to cover the enclosure ToDo: Add holes/standoffs that I manually added into the design Notes: * Middle section is quite large, could use being split into two * Difficult for me to print without warping/curving up due to stock print surface being flexible
