Proudly introducing the "Starfighter's Simple Z Sync Mod"! The probably simplest Z-axis sync mod for the Tronxy X5 series on the planet. My Z-axis are moving freely, but they always get out of sync as soon as the steppers turn off. Sometimes the print bed just starts going down all the way! After trying all the mods out there that were too complicated in my opinion, I started designing my own. This design doesn't need any modifications on the printer and allows the use of an open-loop belt. So far, it works like a charm! Only two pulleys and one belt connector (both STLs included here) plus a GT2 belt, two bolts with nuts (M3 or M4), and a zip tie (optional) are needed. Of course, you can use any belt profile with matching pulleys, but the only matching connectors I could find were GT2 and GT3. I used this pulley with 60 teeth (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3889784), just added a hole for an M4 bolt and nut as I didn't have M3s handy. But the M3 holes are still there and usable. Also, a version with 80 teeth is included. Basically, any pulley can be used, but I recommend using at least 60 teeth (the bigger the better) to minimize the risk of the belt slipping when the connector runs over it! Further, the pulley should be low-profile to fit under the coupler on the stepper motor's shaft. Also, the belt connector was modified to fit inside the pulley and grooved for a zip tie. It may be needed to sand it a little so the belt won't jump when the connector runs over the pulley (I had to).
