TronXY X1 Z-Carriage
thingiverse
This upgrade replaces the original metal Z-carriage that also carries the extruder motor. The reasons for this design were both the not properly bent original z-carriage and the fact, that the raw filament touched the Z-leadscrew. ### Additional Things The original design does not carry the extruder anymore. Therefore, it needs to be placed in a different spot, like on the top of the Z-axis extrusion, where another design of mine comes handy. However, I've added an adaption of the design that still has the extruder motor mounted on the carriage (read below). I also recommend adding some extra stabilization to the whole Z-axis compound. ### T8 Version Thanks to inspiration from the community, I also adapted this model to fit a T8 lead screw (8mm in diameter) and the corresponding nut. But I didn't have the chance of testing it myself because I haven't upgraded my lead screw yet! If you print it, please let me know whether it worked out. ### Version with Extruder Holder Thanks to inspiration from the community, I furthermore published both versions with an Extruder Motor Holder. As the motor is quite heavy, I chose to make this part 10mm thick, which is about 6-8mm thicker than other versions. Therefore you need to provide longer screws. #### Edits 3/2/18 As the version for the T8 leadscrew is now on Thingiverse for over half a year without complaints, I removed the "BETA" from its description. However, it will still be in the file-name. I added an extruder motor holder for each version. As there are now versions with extruder motor holders, I had to rewrite parts of the description. #### Edits 3/19/18 Thanks to the efforts of RJD2, I could improve the design for the T8 screw to remove flexing by adding extra supports. Take a look at the comments section for more information. If you want to use any T8 version, go with V2! The V1 files will still be available. The normal version was not upgraded to the new supports. Request it, then I'll do it! Spelling and styling of the links (I learned Markdown!). #### Edits 9/9/18 Thanks to fabry_68 for remembering me that I forgot to add the V2 versions for the default leadscrew. Added them now. If you want to print any of the versions, please go with V2, as they are designed to be more stable!
