Tron Identity Disc
thingiverse
As a precursor to the 2017 release of TRON-3, we planned for the CarbageRun 2017 and our team chose the TRON theme. Project details can be found on this blog: www.midlivecrisis.blogspot.nl. With the TRON theme comes the need for Identity Discs on our costumes. Note that this is work-in-progress until I'm convinced the assembly can be completed without excessive sanding or drilling. I was inspired by the Metaform3d project, but I needed to add more dimensions and support-free features, so I redesigned it from scratch. This version includes built-in break-away support for the 9V battery and space for my custom switches. The lenses for the LED rings are different as well. Two shapes of quarter-discs exist due to the C-shaped LED ring. The C-ring lens can be printed in one piece or in quarters, while the inner structure is also in quarters but provided in a single build file compatible with my Orca 3D printer. Print four copies of each shape and assemble carefully when gluing. The lenses must be printed in transparent material. You can choose to print them in one piece or in four segments each, with the latter being nicer due to the absence of gaps. I use these switches: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201538126654?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. Before collecting, please LIKE. Thomas - ww.3Daybreaker.blogspot.com Post-Printing Instructions: Break away the support at the battery space. Push in and glue the required switches. Glue four quarters together to form a half-disc, repeating this process twice. Be aware that there are sections with screw holes and sections without. You can glue one side and screw the other for easy battery replacement or choose to glue or screw as desired. Glue the support structures together and attach them to one side of the disc. Add LED strips around the circumference and in the C-ring, wire connections to the LED strips and switches, and finally glue the lenses on top. Plug in dummy components or magnets where no switches are located. Screw the second half onto the other side of the support structure, and have fun! Please LIKE before collecting.
