Trolling and Jigging Fishing Rod and Reel
thingiverse
Hi Everyone! Contained within this unique creation is a fully functional trolling/jigging fishing rod and reel, the result of a collaborative artistic endeavor between Lauren Prado (Instagram: @Findinglolo) and myself Josh Hughes (Instagram: @JoshuaHughesArtist). This innovative fishing rod and reel was thoroughly tested while we worked together at Caldera Artist Residency in Sisters, Oregon. Our goal was to create an avenue for fresh ideas about ownership, creation, remix culture, and popular consumer society by posing a simple yet thought-provoking question: What happens when consumer objects such as a fishpole, an artwork or a lure become nothing more than data, and that data is shared freely around the world? The pole itself in this example was printed with Photo-Pasta Carbon Fiber HTPLA and assembled using Loctite Professional Super Glue (another good glue to use would be a 2-part epoxy resin if you have the time to allow it to cure overnight). The reel: To assemble the reel, you will need: 10 machine screws with nuts 5 standard skateboard bearings measuring 7mm x 16mm 1 hobby brass rod measuring 1mm x 3mm (An assembly video is scheduled to be posted soon.) I have also attached a .step and .iges file for anyone interested in improving this design.
