Catholic place of worship in Velletri, a town in Lazio located in the Castelli Romani, in the suburbicarian center of Velletri-Segni. Attested since 1444, the church stands next to the fourteenth-century Torre del Trivio, so it is likely that it dates back to at least the fourteenth century. In 1494 a new sacristy was erected, while in 1505 the portico was destroyed to widen the road in front which was too narrow. Struck by lightning in 1622, the old crumbling structure was demolished in favor of a new building designed by the architect Carlo Maderno. The works ended in 1759 by Carlo Murena, who gave the place of worship its current appearance. The nearby Torre del Trivio, conceived as a bell tower, is a slender late Romanesque structure 50 meters high and 5x5 meters wide, inaugurated on April 15, 1353. Originally joined to the nearby church by an elevated gallery, it was divided after the works of the 17th century.
