Triton, acroter of the Pergamon Altar
myminifactory
Triton, son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, stands as a sea god with a human torso and fishtail. He is part of a series of statues that once stood proudly on the roof of an ancient altar's SäWillenhall. A counterpart to this iconic figure was a second Triton wielding a clam trumpet. Unfortunately, the exact purpose and placement of these rooftop statues remain unclear. One of these statues was unearthed in a 156 BC layer, providing valuable insight into when the roof may have been completed.
