The triskelion symbol emerges in numerous ancient cultures, with its earliest appearance in Malta dating back to around 4400-3600 BC, and later in the astronomical calendar at Ireland's megalithic tomb of Newgrange. The significance of the Triskele varies depending on the time period and location. Some interpretations include life, death, and rebirth; spirit, mind, and body; mother, father, and child; past, present, and future; power, intellect, and love; as well as creation, preservation, and destruction. It is also believed to symbolize the three Celtic realms: the spiritual world, the present world, and the celestial world.
