TRISECTOR
thingiverse
This creation has been drawn and printed by students aged 14-15 of the (Name) Secondary School. The activity was carried out within the Erasmus+ project PRINT STEM www.printstemproject.eu, co-funded by the Italian National Agency INDIRE. This is a trisector: a mechanical device that divides an angle into three equal parts. Many ancient and modern authors have faced the problem of the trisection of an angle, including Nicomedes in the second century B.C. and Archimedes of Syracuse (287 B.C. - 212 B.C.). The trisector devised by Rufus Isaacs solves the problem mechanically. Understanding the mechanism involves applying congruence criteria.
