The primary purpose of this tripled red rock scan asset is for VFX, close-ups, dynamic simulations, and various visualizations requiring high photorealism. The model is highly optimized while maintaining all necessary details. Photorealistic models were adapted from 3X360*Agisoft Photoscan captures, originally a single large red rock picked from the seashore that later shattered into three similar chunks. The scanning process took place under artificial soft-light with a 4200K and 95 CRI index using a 20.2 MP full-frame sensor. The result was then cleaned in zBrush. It was then retopologized within 3dCoat, aiming to keep the size and shape of quads equal. Manual unwrapping was done with Modo before transferring back to zBrush for reprojection and map capturing. Each chunk comes with three maps - albedo (pre-baked: curvature, soft AO, cavity) and a displacement map compiled from 2,3,5 ZBrush subdivision levels. These maps arrive without blackout or hotspots, making them easy to tweak and adapt to your scene's gamma/color scheme. The mesh specifications are R1: vertices - 846, faces - 1688; R2: vertices - 1359, faces - 2714; R3: vertices - 1402, faces - 2792 (overall: 3625 vertices and 7194 faces). The model has been tested up to six subdivision levels. Animation rendering was done using Octane, as seen in this Vimeo link: https://vimeo.com/122735083.
