Tripod Nut Adapter Component

Tripod Nut Adapter Component

thingiverse

This component is designed for attachment to another 3D model, enabling the insertion of a nut and mounting on a tripod. Alternatively, it can be printed slightly overlapping an object using MakerWare software. The designer created a tripod-mount version of a specific model in just two minutes. This nut adapter includes a clip to prevent nuts from falling out. Before printing, it's recommended to test the component alone to ensure proper fitting. It was designed with ABS shrinkage in mind but should also work well with PLA. Attach the mesh to another object using 3D modelling software and print with the large rectangular opening facing upwards. Insert a 1/4" - 20 nut completely. If using MakerWare, position the adapter by rotating around the Z-axis and slightly overlapping another model, ensuring both openings are accessible with an overlap of less than 1.6mm to avoid intrusion. Confirm that the adapter doesn't interfere with crucial spaces in the other object before printing and inserting a 1/4" - 20 nut.
