I aimed to bring a concept to life by rendering it as a signed distance field. With my trusty spotlights tripod lying broken on the floor, I seized the opportunity to give it a try. Since attempting to slice the SDF didn't yield the desired results - at least not fast enough for my impatience level - I opted to export the mesh as a .stl file instead. This 100-megabyte behemoth required some attention before I could work with it effectively, so I set about removing self-intersections, closing holes, and simplifying the mesh down to an acceptable resolution.
