Tripod Ipad and phone mount
thingiverse
I really liked this phone tripod compatible mount by Redd (thing:3002681). But I wanted it to be a bit bigger so I could mount an iPad for my kids to do piano lessons via Zoom without any issues. I decided to make it chunky because I didn't want to save some plastic and risk it being too weak to hold an expensive iPad. I made it modular, allowing users to easily switch between using it for a phone or adding extension rods to fit an iPad or other tablet perfectly. I also have a tripod with a quick connect adapter, so I made the base compatible with both quick connect and standard 1/4" threaded options. I printed this project in PETG and then used a tap and die tool to clean the threads, but if you print in PLA, it might be okay as is. If you're experiencing trouble with tolerances, try printing the male parts at 97% infill in the x and y directions while keeping the z-axis (axial direction) at 100%. This should increase the tolerances and make threading easier. I printed this design on my Ender 5 at 60% infill and 4 perimeters with no supports, but you might need to add a raft for some of the taller parts if you have trouble with adhesion. The threads I used are: 1/4" - 20 UNC for the tripod mount and 1/2" - 13 UNC for the rest of the threading. I had tap and die tools on hand from my Canadian Tire kit, so that's what I used, hopefully they're pretty common.
