Many telescope tripods are made of aluminium with extension legs. Like these: https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p10574_TS-Optics-Aluminium-tripod-for-astronomical-mounts---Vixen---EQ5-level---black.html I have seen a lot of those tripods broken - the plastic part which locks the extension legs with screw. My design is a replacement for those part with reuse of parts from original design. Needed hardware per one leg: Aluminium tube 23.5x1.5 from local hardwarestore - cut to 9mm long piece 2pcs M5 locknut 2pcs ISO 7380 M5x16 screws Howto: 1) Drill out rivets and tak the parts out - 5-5.5mm drill works the best 2) Literally break out the old nut insert 3) Glue the aluminium tube part with epoxy as reinforcement to printed replacemend to prevent cracking 4) Press in the insert 5) Install the insert with nuts 6) Mount the replacement back in place
