Tripod Dolly with suspension
thingiverse
I needed a way to shoot smooth, dollies-like footage. I came across these wheels for tripods online but they all had very small wheels and no suspension. So I designed something; it was some time ago, if anything is unclear, please ask. The bolts are wooden bolts with a rounded head and a square part. I got the springs from RS Online; they may be a bit too stiff. A little oil is required for smooth suspension. Steering requires some practice and can be a bit awkward at first. Here's what you need to see it in action: https://youtu.be/qcyc2sVfink Here's the list of materials (99% sure): Tubes are 25.4mm diameter, I use 4130 tubes from Ceeway. Length depends on how big you want to make it; at least three times 50cm is needed, I would say. Wooden bolts (round head with square piece) - M8 x 140mm Four M8 locknuts for those wooden bolts plus four M8 washers Sixteen M10 washers or similar between to cover both spring ends so the spring is separated from the plastic; add more for increased spring tension. The springs I used are from RS Online, part number 751-607 - RS Pro Steel Alloy Compression Spring, 26mm x 11mm, 1.85N/mm. Twelve M5x35 plus M5 nut plus M5 washer to mount the tubes to the wheel frame Six M5x45 plus twelve washers plus six locknuts to mount the wheel arms The wheels and bearings are: Three Hyper Formula hockey wheels - 80mm 76A Six Supreme ABEC 7 bearings Three axles Three spacers I ordered this here: Three https://www.skatepro.nl/40-594.htm Six https://www.skatepro.nl/27-1617.htm Three https://www.skatepro.nl/297-12784.htm Three https://www.skatepro.nl/37-3890.htm Larger wheels could be done with minor modifications.
