Tripod coupler for iPod touch

This couples an iPod touch 4G to standard 23mm and 16mm tripod legs. This will allow you to secure a convenient mechanism to run iOS apps and control things that can be controlled with them through WiFi.

This is similar to a version I created for a Lumia 920 - but as there is still no ad-hoc WiFi capability for that platform, I have been using an old iPhone. I realised I had an iPod touch that was not in use - and so now this has been pressed into service to provide the remote control for my camera. It can live in my camera kit within the holder, as there is room for the power charger to connect.

Instructions

There are Rhino3D and STEP files of the design so you can adapt the model as you see fit. There is the added bonus of an iPod touch 4G solid model that you could pull out and use for other projects. The touch's are pretty much obsoleted by modern phones but provide a remarkably apps / WiFi enabled platform for tasks such as this...

Print at whatever resolution you want. It requires no support or raft. The base flange you can see in the STL is offset from the model and controls the airflow over the HBP to prevent model liftoff. It just drops off when you lift off the print leaving a clean (and flat bottomed) item.
Category: Camera
