Tripod Cam-Lock Repair (Modified) for Manfrotto Digi 718B tripod
thingiverse
We survived the sandy cliffs of Dogon Country in Mali, the bustling crowds of downtown Dhaka, and multiple rides strapped to a moped's back in Vietnam. Our camera tripod finally broke during a photoshoot at a Boston medical center. We specifically damaged one of the cam-locks on the tripod legs. In removing the broken latch, we damaged another latch on the same leg. Just as we were about to dive into tedious CAD work, we discovered that frubino had already created models of our broken parts. Thanks to Thingiverse! This remix adapts frubino's design to our Manfrotto Digi 718B camera tripod. Using Autodesk Inventor's Direct Modify tool, we widened the inner walls of the medium and large latch housings by 0.5mm all around for a sliding fit - thanks to frubino for posting IGS files! We also created new thinner pads for inside the cam, allowing us to fit the cam hinge pin through both the printed part and the original thumb-lock.
