I designed attachments for my tripod, the "Promaster Travel 4 (code 8271)". I attach objects like external mics and their wires to it while recording video, mainly using my Tascam DR-05 audio recorder. You're free to modify these designs for use with your own tripod. My tripod's leg diameter is 23 mm, so these pieces should fit a little snugly but still be removable with a bit of effort.
