tripod - 4 degrees of freedom fixed with one screw
thingiverse
I created a custom tripod with a ball design to solve the problem of lack of options available on this forum. The central mount pipe has four degrees of freedom, which are fixed by operating one screw as demonstrated in my video. This screw squeezes the socket, and the socket secures two ball halves in place. My design is optimized for printing, so I used a 0.5 scale factor to print mine with 10mm aluminum pipes featuring threading. The result was astonishingly good, and the ball halves easily slipped into the socket one after another. This versatile tripod can be used to mount various devices such as microphones, cameras, webcams, laser pointers, scanners, antennas, lights, and more. Feel free to share your creative applications. Here are the key features you can expect from my design: - A minimum 30° XY freedom - 360° Z freedom - Full linear freedom for the central pipe - Customizable for 20mm diameter pipes You can easily adapt it to your specific needs by scaling the entire design as a whole. The code is well-documented and easy to understand, with clear parameter options for fast customization: - Scale factor - Pipe radii - Leg angle - Screw threading options (PLA or nut) This design relies on two essential tools: - OpenSCAD - ShortCuts.scad library Find the detailed description of this library at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:644830
