Triple Expansion marine steam engine update 1
thingiverse
Many upgrades have taken place on existing components this week. Most noticeably, a thorough redesign of the bed plate has been implemented, mirroring a cast I beam construction. This significant modification greatly reduced the weight of this part while also decreasing the width of its footprint. The high-pressure block has undergone substantial adjustments to its orientation. The steam accumulator has been relocated to the opposite side in preparation for the upcoming installation of a throttle valve assembly. The high-pressure steam outlet has been moved from the front of the block to the operator's side, where it will be more accessible. A flanged pipe connection upgrade has been implemented, shifting from standard class 100 pipe specifications to heavier class 300 specs to align with the high-pressure design of this engine. Work was also conducted on both upper and lower head flanges to enhance engine aesthetics. The low-pressure block's exhaust port has undergone a redesign, resulting in increased port volume for improved exhaust flow. Adjustments were made to the upper head flange to harmonize with the changes implemented in the high-pressure block. These component upgrades are all compatible with the rest of the model and will function seamlessly with previous versions of earlier releases.
