Triple Axis Tourbillon

Triple Axis Tourbillon

This is my second clockwork design. I spent nearly a month bringing it to life, from initial concept to final posting. The inspiration for this piece comes directly from the intricate mechanisms found in high-end watches, specifically the Cabestan Triple Axis Tourbillon. To get a deeper understanding of its inner workings, I watched countless YouTube videos showcasing the watch's complexity. To create an accurate representation of the original mechanism, I employed similar techniques used in the Gyrotourbillon design. Each component was painstakingly scaled up to match the exact dimensions of the real thing, right down to the tiny screws and Incabloc shock absorbers. The latter were achieved by printing clear red 'jewels' that fit snugly into place, secured by custom-designed snap rings. Measuring in at approximately 140mm in diameter, this model is a testament to the power of precision engineering. It requires a reliable power source – a 2 Amp USB supply – to keep its intricate mechanisms running smoothly. For those interested in witnessing the clockwork in action, I've shared a real-time video showcasing its inner workings: https://youtu.be/Imm3mrR06tc Additional information on this project can be found within the 'Triple Axis Tourbillon Build Notes' PDF, located within the files.
