This version will not be updated anymore. If you want the most recent version, check version 4 out here: https://www.printables.com/model/343896-playable-3-string-ukulele-like-instrument-v4 Credits: /u/Berkbig77 for helping me figure out fret spacing.Me.Update: I fixed the bridge and made it 0.5mm smaller. This should lower the string height. I also fixed the balalaika style body as it was literally broken.Update again: Added a square body for those who want something like a cigarbox guitar. This is version 3 of my 3 string instrument project. This is a 3 string travel size guitar/ukulele/balalaika/dulcimer style instrument. There are no rules on how to play this. Play and tune it however you want. There are 10 body shapes to choose from and 3 types of necks.Parts required: A body, bridge, neck, and nut. You will also need a 3mmx 300mm steel rod, but you may need a shorter rod if you use the moon shaped body. Not all the bodies were tested. Check your slicer if there are any errors with the model and I'll fix them. They should all work fine as I've printed some of the bodies already. This will fit on a Prusa Mini+, but you need to angle the instrument and print with supports. The bridge and nut don't need supports. How do you assemble this? You attach the neck and body together and side down a 3mm x 300mm steel rod down the front of the neck into the body down near the sound hole. A bolt can be used on the back to hold the rod in place, depending on tolerances. Two bolts go into the neck. You will need two 3m bolts and one 4m bolt. I don't remember which size. For attaching the geared tuning pegs, I recommend using a small Philips screwdriver to make screw holes. I recommend you attach one geared tuner at a time followed by putting the string on. Do this for each of the 3 geared tuners, but save the middle one for last. You will also need 2m screws for the bridge and nut. 4 total. How should I tune this? Tune it however you like, depending on string gauge. I have mine tuned to C, E ,G (open c) with C being the lowest note. You could also tune this like a Balalaika where its E, E, and A. Both E strings would be the same. You could tune it as D, A ,D or like a ukulele minus one string. There are no rules on how to tune this. How do I play this? However you like. I strum mine like a ukulele, minus one string. I'll include a example chord chart for open C, but there are no rules. Play however you want. I hope you print this and feel free to remix it as much as you want. Enjoy. Update: If the string action is still too high, you could scale down the bridge (only Z). Quick sound demo: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SkUoLWz4u0c
