trio of Deep Space Network 34-meter antennas
thingiverse
This integration of three instances of the source 34-meter DSN antenna model into one stationary model was crafted as a futaoki, specifically a lid rest used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. I removed the azimuth tracks from the antennas. The quadrapods are still printed individually; they didn't fit together seamlessly but attach securely through welding with acetone (on an ABS print).\r\n\r\nThe three antennas mirror both the form of many futaoki, consisting of three distinct objects such as leaves or human figures, and the layout of NASA's Deep Space Network, comprising three deep-space communications facilities spaced roughly 120 degrees apart on the Earth.
