When printing please take time to carefully smooth down or file down the edge of the vial, focusing only on the outer edge itself because trying to assemble and close it with rough edges can lead to locking issues. This is because 3D printed lines may be slightly protruding and sticking out, making it difficult to remove the lid once it's locked in place. Although the fraction stuck out is extremely small, it will still cause problems if not addressed properly. To avoid this, use fine-grit sandpaper or a file to gently remove the rough edges and enjoy storing your treasured items for travel. Standards CCSS Overview and Background The Bottle Stash Project I designed this vial as a way to store small items without having to create something bulky or oversized. This size is perfect for holding pills, guitar picks, or even favorite superhero rings. As my first design, I'm thrilled with the result. Lesson Plan and Activity Time Required: Approximately 5-7 hours To complete this project, run your 3D printer at a moderate speed of 50mm/s, while also adjusting the acceleration to 100mm. However, keep in mind that you can also opt for a faster print setting by increasing the acceleration to 154%. This will significantly reduce the printing time. Additionally, consider enabling support cooling or using a fan to cool down the print, especially if you choose not to use supports. In this case, it's recommended to add a 10mm rim around the vial to prevent warping and ensure smooth assembly. Materials Needed To complete this project, you'll need access to a 3D printer and sufficient filament material for printing. It's also essential to have a file or sandpaper on hand to carefully smooth down the outer edge of the vial itself, preventing the lid from getting jammed shut. Be sure to also smooth out the inner walls of the lid that rub against the vial, as well as the slider part that holds the lid in place. If you choose not to use supports during printing, be aware that a cooling fan will be necessary to prevent warping and ensure proper assembly.
